Western Kenya region has reaped again in president William Ruto’s government after top politician from the region was appointed to a top position in the Government.
In a Gazette Notice dated 30th July 2024 by Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Amani National Congress party politician Consolata Lusweti has been appointed as a member of the Kenya Ports Authority Board of of directors just days after Former member of Parliament Benjamin Tayari was appointed the Chairman of the board.
Lusweti has been appointed alongside four others; MUSA Osman, Emmanuel Kibet, Lucas Maitha, and Njoki Maina join KPA Board. At the same time, five serving directors have been fired.
The members whose appointments have been revoked include; Lydiah Yator, Stephen Gichuhi, Thorpe, Farida Abdalla, and Nilifat Kassim Ali.
The Members of the Board of Directors serve for a period of three years upon their appointments.
Lusweti’s appointment had been lauded by former Kakamega County senator Cleophas Malala who thanked president William Ruto for rewarding the Western Kenya region again with a top appointment.
“Congratulations Dr. Consolata lusweti upon your appointment as a member of the board of directors of the Kenya ports authority. Asante sana RAIS William Samoei Ruto.” The former Kakamega gubernatorial candidate posted on his official social media pages.
Consolata lusweti ran for Kakamega County women representative seat on the Amani National Congress party ticket in 2022 general elections but lost after Elseie Muhanda got reelected on the Orange Democratic Movement party ticket. Her appointment joins the list of many who have been appointed from the region.
