On July 16th senior officials confirmed that an additional 200 Kenyan police officers have been sent to Haiti under a UN-backed mission to address gang violence. This follows the June deployment of 400 officers. Despite ongoing legal challenges, Kenya plans to send a total of 1,000 officers. However reports from reliable sources now address that Gunfire erupted between Kenya’s police and the dangerous criminal gangs who created traffic in the larger Ganthier region after they barricade the roads. As reported by the nation these criminals gangs attacked Kenya’s police officers who were trying to remove the road block they erected at road two in Ganthier town near the border of the Dominican republic
According to the reporter these gangs tried to lobbed petrol bomb with the aim of scaring Kenya’s police officers so they can run away. Sources working closely with officers attached to Haiti National Police(HNP), it’s revealed that officers engaged in running battles with over 400 Mawazo gangs on a Saturday night.
However, a notable incident occurred few weeks ago where a group of Haitians was seen filming Kenyan police officers as they patrolled the streets.
