Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had previously described the suspect, 33-year-old Juamisi Khalusha, as a “vengeful man with no respect for human life.”
However, the Daily Nation newspaper has now provided a different perspective on Khalusha’s personality and background.
According to his neighbors, Khalusha had been entertaining multiple women in his single-room house, where he had lived for the past two years. Anne Mutua the neighbor, revealed that when Khalusha first moved in, he was married, but his wife had later run away.
Mutua said she was unaware of what might have happened to the other women Khalusha had brought to his home until his arrest.
“I have seen him with several other women in his house. When he first came here, he was married, but after a while, we heard that his wife had run away. I did not know what may have happened to the women until he was arrested,” Ann Told Daily Nation.
Khalusha was apprehended on July 15 in Soweto, before leading the officers to his residence in Kware.
The police have recovered several items from his house, which they will use as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
In addition to the Kware killings investigation, the newspapers also reported on the broader social and political landscape in Kenya. The coverage included updates on the violent anti-government protests that have been characterized by property damage, injuries, and loss of life. The newspapers also highlighted the disunity within the opposition, as they navigate their relationship with the government and the potential for further dialogue.
These reports provide a comprehensive overview of the issues currently shaping the Kenyan news cycle.
They offer insights into the complexities of the Kware killings case, as well as the broader social and political dynamics unfolding in the country.
The contrasting perspectives on the main suspect’s personality, as presented by the DCI and his neighbors, underscore the importance of thorough investigations and unbiased reporting to uncover the truth.
As Kenyans continue to grapple with these pressing issues, the local media plays a critical role in informing the public, fostering dialogue, and holding the relevant authorities accountable.
