Kenyans are raising concerns over the escalating abduction cases in the country perceived to be tied to the ongoing anti-government protests.

Three youth leaders have reportedly been abducted by armed goons in Kuria, Migori county.

Timothy Enoch, Vinny Mwita and Emmanuel Mwita were at Tunaweza Empowerment Organization in a meeting to reflect on the role of the youth in ending FGM when unknown people came in through the gate yielding machetes. This prompted the people outside to run into the hall and locked the door and windows.

One of the goons came in through the window and opened the door for his accomplices. They ordered the attendants to sit and told them that they were looking for Vinny.

According to the Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo, the goons were compromising one of the already abducted persons to identify the faces that were responsible for the protests. They broke into a room where Vinny was, grabbed him outside and starting beating him with the machetes.

A few minutes later, they came in for Emmanuel and also rendered him machete beatings.

After the beatings, the victims were forcefully shoved into two separate cars and driven away to an unknown location.

There have been no communications or updates on the abductees until now. These youth activists appears to be amongst a list of individuals who have been abducted or arrested because of the protests regarding the Finance bill 2024

This abductions pattern has shocked the nation as they seem to be happening randomly and unpredictably. The scenario has triggered a lot of reactions from netizens who took to social media to condemn this act by the government.
