Choffuri Bali Tinny, alias Choffuri among his fans, said on Thursday, June 6, that the local artists from the region have remained poor because they need more support from their leaders.

“Our leaders are not into supporting talents. This has made a lot of artists from the region poor. They don’t even come to support,” he said.

Why did Choffuri attack Western leaders?
He accused the leaders of concentrating on attending funerals and chamas and failing to recognize the place of art in uniting the people.

He called on the politicians to follow the example of leaders from other regions and actively engage in the unity of their people, including local talents.

“They should emulate what other leaders do when it comes to uniting the people. Art plays an important role in the community. Western leaders believe in attending funerals and chamas as the only avenue of uniting their people,” Choffuri said.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, he faulted leaders for failing to market artists with brands and letting other artists win where opportunities belong to them.

“It is unfair for an artist to come from Nairobi and do an advert that we could have done. We are asking our leaders to mention our artists from the region to this marketing for bigger brands,” he said.

Choffuri on Luhya unity and plans
According to the young aspiring politician, Luhya unity will remain a theory. According to him, Luhya leaders deny their people tenders, yet they want to run for the presidency.

“Luhya unity will remain a nightmare. Our leaders are so mean to deny awarding local people tenders, yet they want to vie for the presidency. Who will fund them if all their friends and neighbours are poor?” He questioned.

Choffuri said he would be vying for Kanduyi constituency MP seat in 2027, to achieve his goal for artists.

“I will be running as a member of parliament. It might look big, but my plans, strategies, and manifestos for the people could not allow me to run for the MCA seat. I didn’t want to go for a seat that would limit my capabilities,” he stated.
