Prudence Loureen, a teacher at Turbo, Kakamega’s St. Cecilia Mautuma Girls High School, gained notoriety on social media for her unusual attire, which made millions of people laugh.
After her students dared her to wear the clothing, Prudence did so to demonstrate her affiliation with Prophet Owuor’s congregation and adhere to its particular dress code.
She clarified to TUKO.co.ke that although she frequently shared her religious background with her students, some of them did not find it credible.
The events leading up to the remarkable video that entertained millions on social media were recounted by the well-known Kenyan teacher whose unusual attire brought her classroom to a humorous halt.
Prudence Loureen, a teacher at Turbo, Kakamega’s St. Cecilia Mautuma Girls High School, revealed that she bravely wore the costume to class although some pupils, refused to accept her ties to the Holiness and Repentance churches.
Prudence said that she had been telling her kids about her religious history and affiliation with Prophet Owuor’s church for a long time in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke.
“But when I told them that I grew up in Prophet Owuor’s church and that my dress code was always floor-length gowns and coats, some students did not believe me.” I just chose to don the attire in order to let people who were skeptical of me to do so,” she explained.
The instructor, who has been teaching at St. Cecilia Mautuma Girls for almost two years, said she was surprised by the mix of responses that followed her unusual outfit and the viral success of the video she shared on TikTok.
“Although some kids found my attire amusing and surprising, the bulk of them ended up appreciating it. She laughed as she continued, “The teachers, however, did not like the outfit and asked me to resume my dress code.”
According to Prudence, she bravely left the house wearing her long dress and coat because she had grown up attending the renowned prophet’s church with strict dress codes.
“When I was a student on campus, I started wearing pants. I so wanted to share this aspect of my life with the pupils. I truly enjoy getting dressed up for my pupils.
They usually respond with humor,” she continued. Prudence was also grateful to her students for their diligence in their coursework. “I have to admit that St. Cecilian Mautuma pupils are incredibly diligent. Despite being a tiny ladies’ school, everyone puts in their best effort, the speaker stated.
