Safaricom has advised all users to confirm that they have input the correct phone number before transferring payments from one M-PESA account to another, in an intentional attempt to stop consumers from sending money to the wrong number.
Safaricom continued by saying that because the entrenched M-PESA app had a strategic edge when it came to phone book access, users did not need to enter the phone number of the intended recipient of a transaction.
