President William Ruto’s push for the formation of a mega United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, ahead of 2027 general elections by having his Kenya Kwanza Alliance Coalition affliate parties folded to join the ruling party, is reportedly on the verge of collapsing after the coalition’s affliated parties demanded for UDA party to be also folded so that a completely new mega party can be formed.

According to a report by Taifa Leo Newspaper today, the demand by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s led outfit Amani National Congress (ANC), and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya together with other parties in Kenya Kwanza Alliance, is that UDA should also be dissolved in their merger deal for the formation of mega national political party.

This has forced the head of state back to drawing board and his wish is likely going to collapse. Since it will not be easy to fold the ruling party as his allies especially from Mount Kenya region are in fear of being the losers in case UDA is folded. They are in fear of being sidelined in a completely new party where one of their own that’s Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, might not be given powers like the one he is currently having in UDA.
