Doreen Moraa

Doreen Moraa is a famous Kenyan actress. She had HIV at birth but didn’t let that bring her down. Doreen did not give up or give in to the stigma she faced; instead, she became an advocate for HIV awareness and self-care.

Doreen started the organization I Am a Beautiful Story to give those living with HIV hope and raise awareness about the disease.

Evelyn Simaloia

Evelyn is a member of the HIV/AIDS movement. The virus entered her system via his partner. Her life may have collapsed when she learned she was HIV positive, but she eventually came to see that it wasn’t the end of the world. Evelyn learned that she couldn’t allow herself to lose hope and give up if she wanted to maintain her health. Evelyn has chosen to live a joyful life in spite of the stigma and self-denial she has faced. She has also enrolled in the stigma academy in an effort to learn to embrace her condition. She enjoys assisting those who are HIV positive.

Phenny Awiti

Phenny awiti is a well-known HIV activist and Kenyan celebrity. Awiti is a mother of three and she is HIV positive. Doreen has used her status as an HIV/AIDS advocate without letting the stigma affect her. Awiti has appeared on programmes including the KTN News show on health to discuss health and wellness and offer recommendations to viewers.

Joji Biro

Joji is a famous gospel artist and LGBT icon in his home country of Kenya. On March 11, 2011, Joji informed his followers that he had tested positive. After attending St. Paul’s Miluki for high school, Joji came out as gay and has since become an outspoken advocate for the rights of the LGBTQ population in Kenya. He was seeing a priest, and the two of them had a romantic relationship.

Sammy Githaiga

The Kenyan public knows Sammy, a popular Tiktoker. He is also an advocate for those living with the virus. He said on Tiktok that his family problems compelled him into prostitution at a young age, where he contracted the virus. He utilizes his Tiktok channel to spread awareness about the value of antiretroviral therapy (ARVs) and a positive outlook.

Kenyan celebrity Frigacy Frigacy has come out as HIV positive. In an interview given in 2013, he said that he first tried drugs when he was 16 years old and in the second form of high school. Unfortunately, Frigacy’s drug use did not halt after he graduated from high school; instead, he resumed his previous pattern of smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, and attending wild parties. However, not long after, Frigacy learned she was HIV positive. Frigacy was persuaded to come clean about his sexual orientation, and he eventually did. A year later, Frigacy tragically passed away for reasons that are still a mystery.

Miss Maureen

In Kenya, Lady Maureen held a prominent position in the public eye. In 2002, she learned she had the virus. When HIV/AIDS treatment was extremely difficult to obtain in Kenya. Maureen’s death in 2020 from the virus stunned the world. After being released from the hospital, she quickly passed away.

Wainaina Binyavanga

In 2016, on international Aida day, the late Wainaina spoke clean about his condition. Wainaina tweeted his joy at being HIV positive.Wainaina was a gay man, too.A few years have passed after his passing.

Amuok Richard

Richard Amuok is a member of the successful Kenyan hip-hop trio Ukoo Flani. He named the woman who gave him the virus that caused AIDS.
