Kenyans are mourning the untimely death of Luo gospel artiste Florence Roberts.
Florence is said to have fallen ill and rushed to hospital, where she succumbed; however, the cause of death is yet to be established.
The singer who is famous for gospel hits such as “Kik Ikala” and “Isebedo Jakora”, was one of the pioneers in the Luo gospel music. She was famous for her dynamic voice.
In past interview, the late Florence said her music was a reflection of her Christian faith. She said she knew and received Jesus through singing. She also stated that she felt her heart was touched by Jesus.
Many have eulogized the singer saying she has left an indelible mark in contemporary gospel music. Her soulful vocals in the praise and worship style of music were rich and full-throttled.
Fellow Gospel singers and sound engineers have described her death as a blow to the ministry.
