With a strong statement that took aim at all Kenyan television outlets, the Kenyan government broke its quiet today.

On April 23, 2024, the Kenyan government announced a new ban through the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) that solely targets television stations located within Kenya’s vast borders.

All television stations in Kenya are not allowed to broadcast advertising with the tags breaking news or news flash, according to the Kenyan government.

Furthermore, the Kenyan government has made it illegal for any television station in the nation to run animations that feature violent situations. It has been suggested by the state that the primary goal of this strategic prohibition is to protect minors from being exposed to such content.

The Kenyan government has emphasized that the recently implemented ban will significantly streamline the vast media sector and regulate the content that is distributed to children.
