Former Kirinyaga Women Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici was conspicuously present at the Kenyatta International Convection Centre where President William Ruto led the country in Kenya’s third National Wage Bill Conference.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Attorney General Justin Muturi and Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla.

For Ngirici, it was one of her rare public appearance since the 2022 general election where she lost in her bid for Kirinyaga County Governor to the incumbent Ann Waiguru, who is now the chairperson of the Council of Governors.

The former legislator who is known for her deep pockets, would later drop her election petition against Waiguru. Dr Ruto is said to have brokered truce between them.

Thought she was appointed by Dr Ruto as the board chairperson of the Kenya Seed Company, Ngirici has kept a low public profile for over one year now, leaving many with more questions than answers about her political game plan going to the 2027 general election.

But the Wednesday public appearance at a Ruto function could as well be some communication of some sorts, especially to her political rivals who could be writing her off in the race to succeed Waiguru come the 2027 general election.
