Kenyans have once again been thrown into mourning after Lamu County Commissioner Louis Rono passed away. Rono died while receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Bomet on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
While confirming the sad news, Lamu Acting Commissioner Charles Kitheka said that Rono had passed away during surgery. “We’re deeply saddened to announce the passing of our commissioner, Louis Rono. He passed away during surgery in Bomet. May his soul rest in heaven,” said Mr. Kitheka.
Former Lamu County Minister Paul Thairu expressed his profound sadness over Rono’s passing, describing him as a kind and caring person. “I’m deeply saddened by the news of Commissioner Rono’s death.
He was one of the best commissioners to have served in Lamu. He was gentle, friendly, peace-loving, and dedicated to his work. May his soul rest in paradise,” said Mr. Thairu, who once served as Minister of Education and Gender in Lamu County.
Mr. Francis Mugo, the host of Lamu, also praised Commissioner Rono, calling him a brave and wise leader who opposed negative tribalism. Rono previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of Lamu West before being transferred to another location. Rest in peace, Louis Rono.
