When Ivy Chelimo coined the name Riggy G, it was just meant to be a social media moniker for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
But the owner of the nickname has turned out to love it, and even use it to brand his attires, to have a style that appeals to the youthful population.
During a tour of Murang’a University of Technology on Wednesday, Gachagua said that Chelimo, currently works in his Communications Department and also assists him in feeling and looking youthful.
Gachagua stated that she gave him the nickname because she appreciated his truthfulness and straightforwardness.
“There is a girl somewhere who decided she likes me, likes the way I talk, she likes that I am a truthful man that I say it as it is, and decided to come up with a name to make life easier for me and my fans and she came up with Riggy G,” he added.
He proceeded to call her to the podium, singing her praises, by describing her as a ‘girl full of creativity’.
“This is the girl full of creativity. She is a lawyer by profession and right now she works in the Communications Department. She helps me around feeling and looking youthful,” said Gachagua.
He further jokingly asked the university students whether they wanted her number, after which they shouted ‘yes’.
“You want her number? Hayaa andikeni..” Gachagua teased.
The nickname first popped up on Twitter, during the deputy presidential debate in July, 2022. Gachagua expressed that he liked the name and offered Chelimo a job at his office in 2022 although he did not disclose the role he had assigned her then.
