Detectives in Meru are searching for a boda boda rider named Kelvin Mwaki, who is accused of kidnapping, raping, and killing an 18-year-old girl in Imenti Central.
The suspect allegedly committed these crimes and then left the girl’s body in a trench near his house.
The victim, Rose Nkatha, and her sister Elsie Kagute were on their way home from a crusade when the man offered them a ride on his motorcycle. They agreed and rode with him for a short distance, but instead of taking them home, he took them to his house, claiming he needed to pick up some groundnuts.
Once at his house, the man forced Rose inside and told Elsie to leave. Elsie tried to raise the alarm, but no one heard her. She ran home to get help, but by the time they returned, the man had raped and killed Rose and left her body in a trench near his house.
Before Elsie left the house, Rose pleaded with her to call their father and brother for help, shouting, “He is killing me, please go and call our father and brother.”
The police are now searching for the suspect, Kelvin Mwaki, and are urging anyone with information to come forward. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by young women and the importance of staying vigilant and seeking help when in danger.
