The Ministry of Interior has released a full list of local companies permitted to manufacture alcohol in Kenya.
In a statement on Thursday, March 7, the Ministry said going forward there would be regular audits to eradicate counterfeit alcoholic drinks.
“Going forward, Alcohol and Drug Control will include routine audits to help eradicate counterfeit alcoholic drinks and drugs in our communities,” read the statement in part.
Interior CS Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday revoked all licenses and certification permits for second-generation alcohol and alcoholic beverage distillers and manufacturers, issued by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
Kindiki pointed out that the government would vet the licenses afresh within twenty-one days.
