Kenyan singer Nyota Ndogo is firing back at online bullies who targeted her newborn son with racialized insults. Weeks after welcoming her third child, Abdalla, with her Mzungu (European) husband, Nyota Ndogo finds herself defending her family against negativity.

The coastal-based artist took to social media to express her joy at Abdalla’s arrival. But her happiness was marred by hurtful comments about her son’s skin colour. One particularly vicious remark claimed the baby was fathered by someone else due to his darker complexion.

Furious, Nyota Ndogo addressed the trolls head-on in a video message. “Why write hurtful things about people you don’t even know?” she questioned. She emphasised the emotional toll such comments can take, especially when directed at a newborn child.

Refusing to let the negativity define her experience, Nyota Ndogo proudly declared, “The baby has beautiful dark skin, and his father loves him just the way he is. He’s happy to have an African child.”

This incident highlights the prevalence of online bullying and the damaging impact it can have on celebrities and ordinary people alike. Nyota Ndogo’s response serves as a powerful reminder to be mindful of our words online and to celebrate diversity and acceptance in our communities.
