Secretary general of Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union Davji Atella has been injured during protests in Nairobi. Davji Atella sustained serious injuries during the protests.

Doctors organised a protest in Nairobi demanding for the posting of medical graduates for the internship programme. The doctors marched to the Treasury building demanding for their concerns to be addressed.

The police officers threw a teargas cannister to Davji Atella resulting in the injuries. His colleagues rushed him to Nairobi hospital where he is currently receiving treatment. He has been admitted at the hospital.

Davji Atella is currently serving as the secretary general of the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union. He has been serving in the position for the last two years. He is an experienced pharmacist.

The ministry of health has been blamed for the delay in the posting of medical interns around the country. The Treasury has declined to release funds that had been allocated for the internship programme.

The doctors have condemned the attack on Davji Atella. They have blamed the police for causing the injury to the union official. Doctors around the country have threatened to go on strike over the attack. They have demanded for a response from the government.
