While having a conversation with Lynn Ngugi, celebrated actress Jacky Nyaminde popularly known as Wilbroda from a role she played on an old Citizen TV’s local show Papa Shirandula, talked about why she is not in hurry to get married.
Jacky said that she would wish to have a man in her life some day but she is already enough the way she is. That she will not bow to societal pressure of people who think a woman must get married to be valuable because she believes that she is enough.
The celebrated actress said, “Sometimes I post my photos then people come telling me in the comments that I’m getting old I should get a husband. Such words don’t bother me at all because I know I am complete as I am. Whether I turn sixty or seventy without a husband, I am enough. My son and the husband or boyfriend I may get are just an addition to who I am but my life does not revolve around them. I have no pressure.”
She went further to reveal that even her mother has never pressured her to get married. That with her line of work marriage may come with a lot of conflicts because the man may not be comfortable with her being away on acting trips for days, also because her manager is a man.
Jacky advised other single women and men to find happiness alone and be at peace with the fact that it is okay to be single.
