Mauritania president Mohamed Ghazouani has been elected as the chairman of the African Union. The Mauritanian president was elected during a meeting in Ethiopia.

Mohamed Ghazouani will serve for a period of one year as the chairman. He has replaced the Comoros president Azali Assoumani who served for a period of one year.

African leaders gathered at Addis Ababa in Ethiopia for the annual African Union meeting. They have been discussing about the possible solutions to problems facing the African continent. They are keen on improving the lives of Africans.
