Kenyans online are yet to come into terms with the untimely death of Edwin Kirui, a youthful medic whose social media posts had been suggesting that he was undergoing depression.
According to the comments on social media pages, the youthful medic passed away on Monday. It is still however unclear what exactly caused Kirui’s death.
Going through his social media handle, Kirui appeared to be fighting something strong that he completely failed to reveal.
Last month, on 18th, he made a post suggesting that he was almost giving up. He noted that he felt like giving up.
“I was doing so good, so well, now I’m back at the beginning. The darkness seems more darker than usual. I feel myself disassociating more. I feel myself shutting down” reads the post.
On 25th January, Edwin made another suggestive post. Here he talked on how grief is hard to handle.
“Grief is like an ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim” he said.
On 11th January, he also made a suggestive post and here he talked of death being random, he sounded as if he had predicted his death.
“Death is random, Incase I’m not here tomorrow, I Ioved whoever loves me” he Said
The most suggestive post was on 8th January where he openly revealed that he was actually battling something. He he said that the battle had been for 7 good years, throughout this period he noted that he had been the saddest person
He however noted that he could not share what he was going through even with his closest relative.
“And if depression wins tell them I really tried to hide alot of pain behind my smile. Its been 7yrs of pain and sadness I normally break down when I am alone, my life have been saddest one since 22nd December 2017 no happiness at all. My pillows are always filled with tears” he said.
“I can’t share what I go through even with relatives because I know they’ll judge me, dear God nipe hitaji la moyo wangu I know you know how heavy my heart is. Still battling to overcome it” he added.
Kenyans have since thronged his Facebook profile to send messages of condolences even as others fault close friends who they say failed to reach put to him. Below are some comments;
