The KEBS is crucial in assuring the dependability and safety of speed limiters fitted to commercial vehicles. Suppliers who want to access this market must obtain a KEBS permission.

This license guarantees that the speed limiters are of high caliber, have undergone extensive testing, and adhere to all applicable laws. The KEBS assesses the speed limiters’ performance, precision, and durability in support of Kenya’s overall efforts to improve road safety.

In addition to the KEBS authorization, suppliers also need the Chief Mechanical and Transport Engineer’s clearance. This step is crucial to ensuring that the speed limiters can be placed successfully and are compatible with different car models.

To ensure that the speed limiters are installed correctly on various commercial vehicles, the Chief Mechanical and Transport Engineer assesses the technical requirements, compatibility, and installation techniques.

Suppliers must get a license from the NTSA in addition to the KEBS authorization and the Chief Mechanical and Transport Engineer’s approval. They are permitted to offer and install speed limiters in commercial cars thanks to this license.

The NTSA oversees the licensing process, verifying the supplier’s compliance with all the necessary regulations and guidelines. By issuing licenses, the NTSA ensures that only qualified and reputable suppliers are involved in this critical safety measure.

The KS 2295 Implementation Guideline serves as the comprehensive reference document for licensing speed limiter suppliers and speed limiter installation in Kenya.
