Two Nigerians, JohnBull Asibor and William Opia, got arrested in connection with the tragic murder of 20-year-old JKUAT student Rita Waeni. The light-skinned man seen in CCTV footage is still at large. Detectives found a hatchet, butcher knife, six mobile phones, and three laptops in the suspects’ apartment during the arrest. Waeni’s family shared that someone had called her father demanding a ransom of KSh 500,000 to release her. Sadly, a few hours later, she was brutally murdered.

The suspects, currently in custody, were apprehended with significant evidence linking them to the crime scene.
