A Kenyan resident of Fort Worth, Texas, in the United States, has been arrested and detained on suspicion of murdering a man he saw delivering firewood to his neighbor. Christantus Omondi, 27, allegedly went berserk, leaving his home naked and killing the man who had brought firewood to his neighbor. Omondi is charged with murder and also with assaulting a security guard and preventing him from performing his duties. He remains in custody at a behavioral rehabilitation center after being released on a $50 million bail.
The incident occurred during the ongoing winter season in the eastern United States, where more than 30 people have died due to extreme cold weather. The deceased’s neighbor, who preferred not to be named in the media, had hired him to deliver firewood to avoid facing severe cold inside his home.
However, things took a turn when they were attacked by the naked Kenyan man in an inexplicable manner. “The driver who had delivered firewood was beaten to death by a naked man,” court documents stated. Texas police confirmed the incident, stating that after the attack, Omondi went to another house he had rented and threatened to kill another person living nearby.
“The deceased was performing his duty of delivering firewood to his client in Fort Worth residences. The homeowner stepped in to help him,” the police said. The homeowner managed to escape, and he claims that Omondi was showing aggression and a willingness to harm anyone. The person who received the firewood told Dallas media that Omondi seemed to be targeting to kill them all. “I believe in my heart that he was sent to kill us,” he said.
When the police arrived at his home, they found Omondi still naked, and it is noteworthy that the cold weather was intense. When they apprehended him, he resisted arrest, and records show that this is not the first time Omondi has been involved in criminal activities. He has a history of evading arrest and is also accused of pointing a gun at a security officer.
