There was drama Thursday evening in Kitengela town after a vehicle allegedly knocked down a pedestrian in a hit-and-run incident.

Some four other bodaboda riders are also said to have been injured in the 5pm incident which happened along the Arusha service line.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver is said to have caused the accident and sped off forcing the riders in the area to give it a chase before catching up with it near Enkare area.

In a short video clip seen by the Star, irate riders are seen stoning the vehicle one after the other in protest.

This, as a traffic police officer is seen trying to control the riders and passersby to stop the act.

The woman driver is said to have abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene as the situation worsened.

“Hii gari ichomwe imeua mtu,” a visibly angry man is heard yelling.

Photos of the Nissan car which was towed to Kitengela police station show its windows completely smashed.

Area police commander Patrick Manyasi declined to comment on the incident.

The driver was set to be arraigned in court, senior officers at the station who cannot be quoted told the Star.
