In a scathing attack on President William Ruto, former Nandi Hills MP Hon Alfred Keter has dismissed the possibility of Ruto rigging the 2027 election, saying that Kenyans are united against him and his agenda.

Taking to his X account, Keter responded to Rarienda MP Hon Otiende Amollo who claimed that Ruto is likely to steal votes in 2027 and later disobey court orders.

Keter said, “He will not manage to rig, the margin will be on another level. He will lose big time, Kenyans are united against him and they will vote out lies, deception, corruption, propaganda, blackmail, con games and bottoms-up nonsense. It will be a landslide victory against Kenya Kwisha.”

Keter’s remarks come after Ruto vowed to disobey court orders that declared the housing levy unconstitutional. The levy, which was introduced by the government in 2023, aimed to deduct 1.5% of the gross salary of every employee and employer to fund the affordable housing project. However, the levy faced legal challenges from various stakeholders who argued that it was unfair, illegal, and unconstitutional.

Ruto, who has been at loggerheads with his former ally and current Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has been accused of undermining the government and the constitution. He has also been criticized for his “bottoms up” economic model, which promises to empower the poor and the youth, but has been dismissed by his opponents as a populist and unrealistic scheme.

Ruto, who is seeking a second term in office, faces a formidable challenge from Odinga, who has the backing of several regional leaders and former presidents. The 2027 election is expected to be a tight and tense contest, with both sides claiming to have the support of the majority of Kenyans.
