Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua addressed the murder of Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani, known as Sniper, during a January 1 speech at the burial of Nyandarua Senator John Methu’s father in Njabini. Gachagua called for swift and thorough investigations into the murder, emphasizing the importance of holding those responsible accountable under the law. He stressed the uniform application of the law, regardless of political positions or societal status.

Gachagua’s comments followed digital strategist Dennis Itumbi’s announcement of arrests related to Sniper’s murder, commending the DCI for taking action. Sniper went missing on December 2, and his body was found on December 16, 2023. A postmortem revealed he died from strangulation, prompting calls for justice.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki outlined the focus of investigations into the murder, stating that law enforcement officers were actively pursuing those responsible for organizing, financing, and executing the crime. Kindiki emphasized that all individuals involved in the murder, including those who lured Sniper and disposed of his body, would face legal consequences. The statement reflects a commitment to holding accountable all parties involved in this tragic event.
