A brother and sister from Ganze constituency, who were both admitted to Alliance High and Alliance Girls respectively, might not join the schools due to lack of fees.
Elvin Yaa Randu scored 421 marks while his sister, Vivian, scored 420 marks at Dzikunze Primary School where they sat their Standard Eight examination.
Elvin wants to be a mechanical engineer while Vivian a paediatrician.
The siblings are determined to further their education, but their father cannot raise the Sh75,000 required for each one of them to join Form One in their dream schools.
“We are expected to report to school on January 9, but our father is unable to raise fees for our education,” said Elvin.
He said they braved drought and bedbugs at school to come tops in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam.
Vivian said the biggest challenge she faced in her village and school was water, but she remained determined to attain an impressive grade.
