Vincent Murithi, also known as Supuu Wa Mioro, was released on a meager Ksh 20,000 cash bail after being arraigned at the Maua law courts in connection with the abduction and murder of popular Meru Blogger Bernard “Sniper” David. Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi expressed disbelief, repeating, “20,000…20,000…20,000, ….20 what?” as he highlighted the seemingly trivial amount for such a serious crime.

The 20-year-old suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges related to the disappearance and subsequent death of Sniper. The case is set to be mentioned on January 5th, 2024, leaving many in the community dismayed at the perceived leniency in handling the matter.

A postmortem examination conducted by government pathologist Johansen Oduor at the Marimanti Level 4 hospital Mortuary in Tharaka Nithi, Meru County, revealed disturbing details about Sniper’s demise. The examination showed that the blogger, whose real name is Daniel Muthiani, died from strangulation, with visible marks on his neck indicative of a struggle for oxygen.

Sniper’s mysterious disappearance on December 2, 2023, had raised concerns, and the discovery of his lifeless body on December 16 intensified the shock and grief among his followers and the wider community. The revelation of the cause of death has only intensified calls for a thorough and just investigation into the murder.

Social media is buzzing with the hashtag #JusticeForSniper as netizens express their outrage over the seemingly inadequate bail amount granted to the prime suspect. Concerns about the handling of the case and the urgency for a fair trial have become the focal points in the quest for justice for Sniper, whose untimely death has sent shockwaves through the online community and beyond.
