The ever-cheerful NRG radio presenter, Natalie Githinji, has candidly shared the numerous challenges she faced while grappling with the debilitating condition known as endometriosis.
For those unfamiliar with the term, endometriosis is a severe medical condition characterized by the attachment of rogue tissue to organs such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, or bowel, resulting in painful inflammation, scarring, and adhesions.
Natalie Githinji, who has been contending with endometriosis for several years, recently revealed the significant hardships she endured due to the illness. She expressed the difficulty of even sharing intimate moments with her partner, as the ailment often interfered with her ability to sleep with him.
Sharing her personal struggles during an interview with Oga Obinna on his YouTube channel, Githinji disclosed that her relationship suffered a major setback, leading to the breakup with her boyfriend. According to her, the separation occurred because she couldn’t fulfill the conjugal rights in the relationship due to the excruciating pain associated with endometriosis.
Githinji lamented, “Endometriosis affects various aspects of your life, including relationships. It becomes burdensome for a man to be with a woman suffering from endometriosis. The constant need for assistance with daily activities, coupled with the inability to engage in physical intimacy due to the pain, can strain any relationship. It’s disheartening to realize that your partner has left you, attributing it to the challenges of endometriosis. Personally, I have experienced a breakup because of endo— the guy felt that my complaints of pain during intimacy were too much for him to handle.”
The radio host expressed deep emotional distress caused by her ex-lover’s decision, particularly because it happened at a time when she needed support the most.
It’s worth noting that Natalie Githinji is not the only local celebrity grappling with endometriosis. Renowned reggae artist Jahmby Koikai has also been dealing with the condition for several years, actively raising awareness and seeking support for others facing similar challenges.
