The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Secretary General Akelo Misori has told Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu to correct the alleged mess that has occurred in the form one students selection, saying that several parents are now demoralised with the process.
Speaking in Miyuga village in Karachuonyo Constituency, Misori expressed concern over how the Ministry of Education conducted the selection process, saying it was full of mistakes which need to be rectified to enabled students be admitted to schools of their choice.

The SG further said that KUPPET has received overwhelming complaints from parents of the affected KCPE candidates over the messes surrounding the selection process.

The unionist added that most students have been placed to schools that they didn’t choose, while others have been placed to distance day schools, a move that will hinder them from joining form one next year.

Misori asked CS Machogu to address the matter before it is late so that the students can be given an opportunity to join secondary schools of their choice.

On the other hand, Misori urged the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to employ sufficient teachers in Junior Secondary schools, which he said are understaffed, compromising the quality of education.

He further stated that Junior Secondary schools still face infrastructural challenges that if not addressed in time will jeopardise learning exercise in such schools.
