On Saturday, Opposition Leader Raila Odinga walked his ‘son’ Gideon Gachuki down the aisle in Githunguri, Kiambu County.
Together with his spouse Ida Odinga, the two ensured their ‘son’ had a colourful event, by not only attending the wedding but also walking with Gachuki side by side.
Mama Ida was seen with the groomsmen, as they went to pick the bride of the day.
Gachuki got married to Ann Ng’endo.
Gachuki made headlines in 2021 taking Kenyans by surprise after he boldly invited the ODM leader to his 22nd birthday party via a text message.
The last born in a family of four revealed that he got Raila’s number online but couldn’t immediately establish if it was a real one, but tried his luck anyway.
In previous interviews, Gachuki said he had initially tried to reach Raila via emails but they went unanswered.
He said after sending the text message, Raila replied to it and later called to confirm that he would attend his birthday party.
“Surprisingly he called and I invited him to my birthday and he confirmed that he would attend,” Gachuki said in an interview.
“It came as a surprise to me because I was not sure that Raila would do that during my birthday, I was surprised and that moment became a dream come true.”
At the time, Gachuki was a third-year student at the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) pursuing Project Management.
He revealed that Raila’s surprise had placed him in the largest arena politically, not only in his village, ward, constituency, or county but country-wide.
