These individuals hold strategic positions within his office and the Jubilee Party to assist him in fulfilling political and diplomatic responsibilities.
Here are the three people who have been helping out Uhuru in his duties since he left office.
- Macharia Kamau.
The most recent Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs is Ambassador Macharia Kamau. Uhuru nominated him for the role in February 2018.
He is currently the East Africa Community Facilitator’s Ambassador and Special Envoy to the DRC.
At the Kasarani Stadium handover ceremony, Uhuru was designated as the EAC Facilitator at DRC. He is entrusted with advising Uhuru on the DRC war in his role as special envoy under Uhuru’s administration.
Kamau has attended all of Uhuru’s high-level delegation meetings, including the most recent ones with British High Commissioner Neil Wigan and US Ambassador Meg Whitman.
2.Jeremiah Kioni
Regarding politics, Kioni is one of Uhuru’s most reliable advisors.
As the Jubilee Party’s Secretary General, Kioni has been leading Uhuru’s faction amidst acrimonious conflicts where two opposing groups have asserted their rightful leadership over the group.
When Uhuru invaded the party offices to defend Kioni against an attempted hostile takeover by the faction led by Sabina Chege and Kanini Kega, it was evident how close Kioni was to him.
In important Azimio gatherings like the Parliamentary Group sessions and the National Dialogue Committee technical team, the SG has been speaking on behalf of Uhuru.
In addition, he was assigned the responsibility of revitalizing the party as the Uhuru camp plans how to enlist new supporters around the nation. The party has been establishing new offices and hosting meetings at the local level lately.
3.Dena Kanze
Former journalist Kanze Dena works as a spokesperson for the State House and is employed by the Office of the 4th President.
Like Kamau, she is a constant presence at high delegation meetings, including the previous Head of State’s meetings with the ambassadors of the United Kingdom and the United States. She plays a crucial role in organizing communication at Uhuru’s current office.
Uhuru created X (previously Twitter) and Facebook profiles where his political and diplomatic action is chronicled as one of his post-election communication initiatives.
Uhuru’s communication staff periodically sends emails to media outlets updating them on the former President’s engagements.
