Accompanied by party chairman David Murathe and other local and national Jubilee members, secretary general Jeremiah Kioni held a town hall grassroots engagement meeting in Lamu town, Lamu county today.
It is during this meeting that the Jubilee Secretary General continued the onslaught against some of the recommendations contained in the report released by the National Dialogue Committee.
Addressing party delicates, Kioni let the cat of the bag and spilled the beans on what he said was a secret deal in the NADCO report proposed by Ruto’s men in the committee. According to Kioni, Kenyans are yet to be told this deal.
Kioni who was part of the NADCO revealed that the report proposes the increment of the senator’s term limit from the current five ( 5 ) years to seven ( years ).
“Through the report, they want to increase the senators’ limit to seven years,” said Kioni insisting that a referendum must be held if they want to pass this new law.
“They want to amend the constitution without going to the citizens. To give senators’ 7 years. They must go back to the ground and meet with citizens. Why are they afraid,” added Kioni.
It should be noted that though leaders from both sides have admitted to receiving the report, the official report has not been released to the public. Kioni who was part of the committee has shared what he said is a recommendation in the report not yet revealed to Kenyans.
