A new twist has been reported in the case case facing the former governor for Migori county Okoth Obado over the murder of a university student in Rongo, Sharon Otieno. According to recent data that has been released by Safaricom, the former governor was not around the murder scene when Sharon was killed as earlier claimed.
Safaricom has found out through phone tracking that Obado was in Nairobi at the time Sharon Otieno was found dead. An officer from Safaricom told the court that from 2nd September to 5th September 2018 Obado was in Nairobi and not in Migori removing him from the list of suspects in the murder of the Rongo University Student.
“Data records from Safaricom have dispelled earlier reports that placed former Migori Governor Okoth Obado at the scene where late Rongo University student Sharon Otieno was found murdered. An officer attached at Safaricom on Tuesday confirmed to the court that throughout the night of 2 September 2018 to 5 September 2018, Obado was in Nairobi.” The Star revealed.
For five years Obado has been facing charges over the murder of Sharon Otieno. When she was found dead the governor was marked as the first suspect as reports revealed she was his lover. He had allegedly tried to force her to abort a baby she was carrying but she refused making him kill her. This new twist will now see the case take another turn.
