A married woman from Meru county is currently on the run after she allegedly killed her husband, a police officer at their rented house in Tana River county following a domestic dispute.
The victim, police constable Elijah Lekiishon, was attached to the Kilelengwani Patrol Base under the Kipini police station in the Tana Delta sub-county. He was stabbed on his neck and forehead by his 35-year-old partner, Regina Kanorio, who he was cohabiting with in a rented house. According to a police report, the couple had a heated argument that started in their house and spilled over to the neighbouring plot, where Lekiishon collapsed and died from his injuries.
A knife stained with blood was found next to his body. “The body of the deceased was removed to Malindi Sub-county Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem, and the recovered knife kept as an exhibit,” the report stated . Police have launched a manhunt for Kanorio, who fled the scene after the incident. This is the latest case of intimate partner violence in the country, which has claimed the lives of many people in recent years.
