Willis Raburu actually began his weight loss journey in May 2022, when he underwent a gastric bypass procedure then.

The TV47 presenter infact chose the procedure after reportedly trying out several other weight loss methods that failed to bear any fruits.

According to reports, Willis Raburu had already lost some 10kgs one week after the surgery but he also had to adhere to a new eating plan and checking his diet.

In December 2022 however, the father of two even took to his Instagram account to reveal to the whole world that he had lost some 30 Kgs, a clear indication that the process was indeed working.

At the time Willis Raburu also disclosed that his family was proud of how he had lost some weight.

“I have lost 30kgs and I haven’t even started going to the gym. My friends are saying I have ost weight…I am looking smaller…I can now shop in different places, they never used to have my size.

“My dad is happy, my mum is happy, my fiancé is happy and I am happy because when you are healthier you get to guarantee more time with your kids…that was important” he said.

Having spent Kshs 900,000 on the gastric bypass surgery, Willis Raburu revealed at one time how it had helped him to reduce the amount of food that he eats.

“I used to eat more than six chapatis and visit KFC regularly. But now I don’t eat much. I know this is a lasting solution”.

The gastric bypass procedure normally causes weight loss by restricting the amount of food that you eat.

The stomach is divided into a small ‘pouch’ in which food enters and one larger remnant of te stomach where food can no longer pass.
