A police officer has been arrested after his robbery attempts were thwarted by members of the public Kiambu County.
The officer, who is said to have the rank of an Inspector was arrested by police officers who were manning Equity Bank Ruiru branch, where he ran for safety after a mob baying for his blood began chasing after the suspect.
According to Ruiru police boss who has been identified as Alex Shikondi, the suspect, who was armed with a pistol, had robbed an M-Pesa shop customer of Ksh.54,000 before an alarm was raised.
This is happening at the same time when it has been reported that President William Ruto has promised to raise the salaries of police by 40%.
While reacting to this incident, Kenyans who took to their different social media platforms to express their opinion on this topic have urged The National Police Service to make sure they suspend the suspect.
Kenyans have also called upon the inspector General of Police Japhet Koome to look into the increasing number of Kenyan police officers who are being caught on the wrong side of the law.
