Police are holding a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier accused of killing his 26-year-old wife.

Kennedy Oloo, stationed at 81 Tank Battalion in Lanet Barracks, Nakuru county is said to have committed the offence at their residence in Kiamunyeki, Bahati sub-county.

Oloo was arrested the following day after he reported a suicide case at Lanet Police Station.

The suspect told the detectives she had committed suicide by hanging herself with bedsheets in their bedroom after quarrelling the previous night.

But preliminary investigations showed the deceased had strangulation marks ruling out suicide. The soldier produced a ladder which he alleged the deceased used to climb to the roof about three meters high. However, detectives suspected a foul play after they found the body on the floor and the bedsheet had no signs of stretching.

According to reports, the couple quarelled after the woman Leah Terewa accused her husband of infidelity. However, a fight broke out after the man confessed to siring a child with another woman. He further proposed of bringing the two to their residence in Kiamunyeki. The squabble turned deadly after the soldier allegedly strangled his wife during the disagreement.
