The Azimio-OKA coalition leader Hon Raila Amolo Odinga has for the first time announced publicly that he accepted that he lost in the general elections of 1997. According to the former prime minister, that is the only time that he lost in elections.
The political veteran has been constantly contesting for presidency without success. However, he has adequately contributed to the political growth of the country. It is during his speech that he said that he only admits to losing one election.
Raila Odinga said, “Madam, you’ve written there, “Raila Odinga ran for presidency five times and lost five times and complained that he did not lose each time.” I accepted losing the election in 1997. In 2007, the jury is out there; everybody knows what happened. 2013 everybody knows, 2017 people know, 2022 some of you were not in the country…”
