Kenya Power has announced new changes on meter numbers, something that might disadvantage Kenyans badly especially those who live in rented houses and apartments. According to Kenya Power is that, they will not give meter numbers to landlords rather than units within the apartment.
This means that, the landlord will be responsible for paying power something that might lead to increased rent. It’s important to understand that, if rent is increased over power costs, then Kenyans will suffer.

It’s also important to understand that, different houses uses different amount of power and that’s a fact. It’s therefore unfortunate that Kenya Power wants to return the country to the old stone age period.
Kenya Power wants Kenyans to share power in rented apartments yet it’s obvious that the rate of power consumption per individual is different. It’s a bad move and something that will force the people to oppose strongly and vehemently. The argument by Kenya Power is that, giving many mater numbers in one apartment is giving room for illegal power connections.
