The Cabinet Secretary in charge of Interior Security and National Coordination Professor Kithure Kindiki has announced that November 13 will henceforth be a public holiday.

In a statement on Monday, November 6, Kindiki said the move was made following deliberations by Cabinet Secretaries during a cabinet meeting held on Friday, November 3 in Mombasa county.

In his statement, Kindiki noted that the said day will be honoured a tree planting day where all Kenyans across the country are expected to contribute to the national efforts to save our country from the impacts of climate change.

“Following the decision of the Cabinet sitting in Mombasa on Friday November 3, 2023, the Government has declared a special holiday on Monday, November 13, 2023, during which the public across the Country shall be expected to plant trees as a patriotic contribution to the national efforts to save our Country from the devastating effects of Climate Change,” Kindiki said.

Further, the CS clarified that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations scheduled for that particular day will not be cancelled. He affirmed that candidates shall continue with their exams as usual.

“National Examinations scheduled for that day shall proceed normally,” he noted.
