Controversial Kikuyu musician Muigai Wa Njoroge has expressed delight after learning who was allegedly set to be Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Interior and National Administration in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition government.
According to former leader of the dreaded Mungiki sect Maina Njenga, he was to be the Minister for Interior if Azimio candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua won the August 2022 presidential election.
Njenga, who vied for Laikipia Senate seat in the same election, claimed Raila had promised to appoint him to be in charge of national security had he succeeded Uhuru Kenyatta as the country’s fifth President.
“I would be now the one in charge of Kindiki’s docket because I was promised the Interior Cabinet Secretary position if Raila won the election,” he said during an exclusive interview with Kameme TV on Thursday morning.
Reacting to the remark, Muigai thanked God for not enabling Raila clinch the presidency and thus denying Njenga from becoming Interior CS.
Another Kikuyu artist by stage name ‘Under 14’ expressed similar sentiments saying Njenga’s tenure as security minister would have been a nightmare.
“We thank God you did not get the government. You as Mungiki leader made so many Kikuyu youth to be killed,” he said.
Njenga further revealed after President William Ruto took oath of office he advised Raila to reject the results and start countrywide demonstrations against the new administration.
