A day after landing in the country, His majesty King Charles III met kenyan world war veterans yesterday where he honoured them by handing them medals.

However as relayed by a report covered on Thursday’s standard publication, a veteran corporal named Samuel Nthigai Mburia admitted to have thrown away his earlier medal for fear of retribution from freedom fighters.

However in response, King Charles III consoled him informing him of a special thing he was to be given.

” We have something special for you” King Charles III was quoted telling him as he handed them medals for contribution during the world war ii.

Corporal Samuel Nthigai Mburia was alongside other three Veterans including corporal John Kavai, Private Kefa Kajira and Private Ezekiel Kanjom.

King Charles III was flanked by Queen Camila alongside other members of the government.

On Tuesday, the king talked about the intimidations the British Army inflicted on kenyans offering an apology over the atrocities that kenyans passed through during the colonial periods.

” King Charles III: The wrongdoings of the past are a cause of the greatest sorrow and the deepest regret. There were abhorrent and unjustifiable acts of violence committed against Kenyans. It matters greatly to me that I should deepen my own understanding of these wrongs and that I meet some of those whose lives and communities were grievously affected #TheRoyalVisit #RoyalVisitKenya”, he said.
