Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday joined President William Ruto as they embark on five-day official tour across the Coast Region, a visit that comes a day after he jetted back to the country from Germany.
Gachagua has been conspicuously absent as the president hosted King Charles III and Queen Camilla who are in the country for an official visit.
Making his remarks after accompanying Ruto to Lunga Lunga, Kwale County for the commissioning of electricity mini grid, Gachagua told his boss to ignore the critics of his foreign trips.
“Your Excellency, it is a pleasure to accompany you here. The residents have said they have never sighted a president in this place, and that means you have set a new record.”
“This project has been made possible by foreign investors. There are some people who have been complaining that you are traveling too much, I want to tell them that the fruits of the president’s visit to foreign countries can now be seen, this being one of them.”
“We want to encourage you Your Excellency, continue touring across the world, and tap all which can benefit Kenyans. You were elected to move the country forward, if that will be achieved by you going to the United States or China, please go,” said the DP.
In his Sunday sentiments, President Ruto defended his trips, saying they are for the benefit of Kenyans, assuring Kenyans that they will see the fruits of his trips as time goes by.
