In a devastating turn of events, a government administrator in Nandi County, Charles Kogei, 42, Chief of Ndurio location in Aldai Sub-County, met a tragic end on Monday evening. Kogei succumbed to the effects of a pesticide he ingested at a private hospital in Kapsabet.
The heartbreaking incident came to light after Kogei uncovered a distressing truth – his wife, a mother of four, was involved in an affair with a police officer from the Kobujoi police station. This revelation shattered him, leading him to make the fateful decision to end his own life.
Nandi County DCI boss, Douglas Chikanda, shed light on the heart-wrenching circumstances, detailing how Kogei discovered his wife and the police officer in a compromising situation at a lodging in Serem Town. In the wake of this tragic event, the police officer in question has been suspended from duty, pending a thorough investigation into the matter. Nandi South OCPD, Peter Mbua, affirmed the incident’s occurrence and assured the public that a comprehensive probe is underway.
Kogei was swiftly rushed to White Crescent Nursing Home in a desperate bid to save his life. Despite the medical team’s valiant efforts, he ultimately succumbed to the lethal effects of the poison. As of now, Kogei’s remains rest at the White Crescent Hospital morgue, awaiting a post-mortem examination. This devastating loss serves as a poignant reminder of the complex challenges individuals face, even in positions of authority, and underscores the importance of compassion and support within our communities.
