Jeremiah Kioni, the secretary general of Jubilee party, is a prominent leader from the Mt. Kenya region who has been outspoken in his criticisms of President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government. In a recent article in People Daily, Kioni revealed that there has been a shift away from Ruto’s UDA party, but not towards Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition.
” Clearly, people have moved from UDA but they are not coming to Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition. They are there like Israelites and we cannot allow them to wander for 40 years. We must quickly give them direction and Kamwene is one of the things you’ll be hearing if not meant for anybody, it’s for everybody “, He said.
Kioni, a prominent figure for former president Uhuru Kenyatta, believes individuals like these are comparable to the people of Israel and require a platform like Kamwene to flourish. Recent reports have revealed divisions within the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition, leading Kioni and Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua to establish Kamwene forum as a place for those who have lost faith in the government.
Notably, Karua aims to represent the voices and needs of the Mt Kenya region through this newly formed forum, joined by other respected figures such as former Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Ndiritu Muriithi, and former Agriculture cabinet secretary Peter Munya.
