Today in the evening, reports have emerged that a section of Mount Kenya residents more specifically Lolldaiga in Laikipia county have announced a peaceful protest on Tuesday October, 30th in Nairobi county.
As reported by the Nation Africa, these residents through their leader Mr Mwangi said that they will organize themselves into a group of more than 500 people and hold a protest from Uhuru Park to British Embassy. According to Mwangi, they Will be taking a petition to Neil Wigan concerning Lolldaiga fire incident caused by British soldiers. These residents said that Britain has not compensated them upto today. They said that they have resorted to hold protests so as to get the attention of King Charles III who will be in Kenya on that day.
“Victims of Lolldaiga fire to protest outside British High Commission over compensation. The more than 6,000 claimants of the wild fire reportedly started by foreign soldiers during their routine training at Lolldaiga Conservancy says the Inter-Governmental Liaison Committee established to process their claims has delayed the exercise for more than two years” Says the report.
