Though she was not born in a political family, but Daisy Nyongesa has politics running in her blood. This is what has defined much of her life.

At only 33 years of age, she has achieved much in her life. In 2013, she became the youngest Senator in Kenya after being nominated to the Senate by ODM party to represent youths. She was 24 years then.

She had a relatively successful stint in the Senate, where she was consistently ranked among the top performing Senators in the country. She sat in the implementation committee of the Senate. Besides that, the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology- trained teacher was also in the education and ICT Committees.

It was during her time in the Senate that she met her future husband, Nabii Nabwera who is from a prominent political family in Kakamega.

Nabwera is the son of former Kenya’s Permanent to USA, Burudi Nabwera, who also served as MP in the reigns of former Presidents Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Arap Moi.

Nabii Nabwera was in 2022 elected as Lugari MP on an ODM party ticket. He had previously served as chief of staff during the reign of former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

In 2017 and 2022, Nyongesa decided not to run for any elective position as she opted to take a political sabbatical.

But with the dynamic nature of Kenyan politics, did the former senator miscalculate her moves by opting not ro for any political position during the last two elections?

By distancing herself from the electorate, it will be prove tough for her to make a return into the murky world of politics in future.
