A dramatic scene unfolded on Monday afternoon at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) headquarters in Upper Hill, Nairobi. This is after interdicted teachers tried to force their way into the premises as they protested the decision that led to their interdiction.
Police officers in collaboration with other security guards closed the gate leading to a serious confrontation. The teachers argued that they wanted to go inside and defend themselves.
“Why are you blocking us, we are not lesser humans. We want to go inside and defend ourselves. Why is it that some teachers are allowed to go inside while some are being chased away?” One of the teachers was captured saying.
According to a video shared by Citizen TV, the confrontations escalated and the police officers were forced to lob teargas in order to disperse the unruly crowd. Within a few minutes the teachers run away and a state of calmness was later reclaimed. This is not the first time such an incident is happening in the Kenya’s capital.
